About

In Fairy Tales and Movies, the princess is rescued by the prince, the hooker falls in love with a normal and adorable rich guy and the secretary nails the presentation, gets the guy and her boss’s job! Work is not a fairy tale, although there are lots of witches, toads and scary forests to travel through before making it to the castle with the corner office.

Once upon a time there was a boring HR person sitting in a back office filling out paperwork spouting sections from the handbook. I’m not that HR person. Work is a scary and sometimes funny place with lots of lessons to learn along the way. People don’t follow the rules, it’s HR’s job to steer them in the right direction. Unfortunately there are no apples with spells to make the bad employees fall asleep until we can recruit new ones. I plan on telling the epic lore of the workplace and how to handle it. Take the seven dwarfs, Sleepy needs to make sure he’s getting the appropriate break time to nap. Is Sneezy a Work Comp issue with Lung Problems or do we need to make reasonable accommodations for him? And don’t even get me started about the witch stirring her brew without her safety goggles….

My Name is Denise Benages, President of HR Midwest, Inc. and I have been in the Human Resource field for over 16 years. I plan on telling the epic lore of the workplace and help with solutions.
