Each year we all reflect on the anniversary of 9/11 and what it means. There is so much going on around the world this year that I felt it wasn’t given the focus and respect it deserves. We lost so many people on that day and we lost our innocence too.
But we also found hope and saw heroes emerge as their stories were told in the following days and years. I read a post this morning of a friend that is a police officer. He said the morning of 9/11 he teared up and then reported for duty. So many 1st responders had the instinct to immediately report to duty that day. They ran into the danger to make sure others were safe. None of them knew what was coming.
Last year I wrote a post called Would you be a Hero? I often wonder what I would have done. After reading my feed this morning which includes many police officers and firefighters, I’m so proud of my friends.
Thank you to all the first responders, the soldiers and the people who walk into danger every day! Say a little prayer today for all those we lost on 9/11 and for those that continue to be every day heroes.
Cantor Fitzgerald lost 648 employees that day. Each year they have a charity day on 9/11. Here is the link to Charity Day 2013. Here is also a moving article about how their employee’s names were placed on the memorial.
